Herbal COX-2 Increases in certain prostaglandins (PGE2) and leukotrienes cause inflammatory reactions to occur such as increased vessel permeability resulting in tissue and cutting-off the blood and nutrient supply causing: swelling, redness and pain.

NSAIDs inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2, unfortunately the COX-2 has the undesirable side effect of causing gastric ulceration. Natural alternatives such as herbal turmeric, ginger, rosemary, green tea with their active phytochemicals constituents are reported to be effective COX-2 inhibitors. No adverse effects have been reported in clinical studies performed to validate the various therapeutic properties of these herbs.
